Evan
Evan is an honors graduate of NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering, and his journey as a tutor began during his sophomore year of undergrad. It was there that he discovered his passion for teaching, progressing from a peer tutor to a head teaching assistant by his senior year.
Since then, he has gone on to tutor for several esteemed educational companies in New York City and Los Angeles. A specialist for the ACT, SAT, SSAT, ISEE, and SHSAT, he has guided many students to elite high schools and colleges, with several achieving perfect scores on the aforementioned, standardized tests. His students have been accepted to highly selective schools such as NYU, Johns Hopkins, Dartmouth, Philips Exeter, Phillips Andover, Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Tech, Regis High School, and Harvard Westlake.
Having played college soccer for NYU, Evan's career in education has also extended to the playing field: he currently serves as the director and head coach of an elite high school soccer program with 70 student athletes and 9 coaches. In this principal role, he has led his players and teams to achieve much, including their first-ever league championship, grown the program into an attractive option for local and international talent, and developed year-round training curricula. Additionally, he serves as an academic specialist for Los Angeles City College and has been formally recognized by LACC for his outstanding work in developing accessible, tutoring curricula (for statistics students).
Besides standardized test preparation, Evan specializes in helping students with middle and high school math, middle school science, and all music theory. Regarding music, Evan is a Herb Alpert Scholar at the Herb Alpert Music Center in Los Angeles and has earned Certificates of Achievement in Vocal and Commercial Guitar Performance from Los Angeles City College, all while performing with world-class musicians including Euro Zambrano, Jamey Arent, and Erinn Horton.
Outside of work, Evan enjoys baking, especially thin-crust pizza, playing with his 5-year-old mutt, Pepper, and skiing or surfing depending on the weather!
Evan finds tutoring to be an endlessly rewarding pursuit, so he hopes to join you on your educational journey. His goal is not only to help you achieve fluency in your chosen subject, but to make sure you have fun doing so.
