No one is more attentive than we are. From the materials that we use; to the way that we present new concepts; to what questions we work on during lessons; to how much we take into account a student's busy, stressful schedule when tailoring the tutoring process, to the communication we have with parents, everything we do is extremely-tailored to what your child needs.
The other most significant factor that makes us stand out is the relationship we have with our tutors. At many tutoring companies, there's an uneasy relationship between the company and its tutors, as a consequence of the company not treating tutors fairly. At Tannenbaum Tutors, we believe showing kindness and respect towards our team members is not only the right thing to do; it's in the best interest of your child, because an entirely positive relationship with the company that a tutor works for is a necessary component for the tutor to perform at their absolute best.
Great questions! For the ACT and SAT, we, under almost all circumstances, recommend that a student begin tutoring during their sophomore year or the summer before junior year and first take the actual test either in October or December of junior year. For the ISEE, SSAT, and SHSAT, we recommend a student take a diagnostic test 12-14 months prior to the actual test and then for the family to discuss with us when to start the test-prep. We’re always happy to provide a diagnostic test!
For academic tutoring, we recommend that a student begin tutoring lessons as soon as possible if the family has sought out all possible help from their child’s teacher and all extra help offered at their child’s school and, yet, it’s still apparent that they need tutoring in order to achieve their desired grade and learn how to work independently.
For students trying to overcome ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, low motivation, and/or executive functioning difficulties, we can only make a responsible recommendation based on the student’s individual circumstances.
We take into account the tutor's experience, their track record, how specialized their tutoring is, as well as the format, duration, and frequency of the lessons.
Exact pricing will be discussed in-detail during your consultation.
Yes, we do! Any time a client passes along our services to someone else, and that person signs up for two or more lessons, we offer a free lesson to the client who passed our name along.
We require at least 24 hours notice if a student needs to cancel or reschedule a lesson or a practice test. We generally don’t charge for a first late cancellation or rescheduling but would for any one beyond a first one.
If a student notifies the tutor that they won’t be able to make it for a lesson within an hour of that lesson or after that lesson had been scheduled to start, or doesn’t notify the tutor at all, we would charge for that lesson even if it’s a first late cancellation/rescheduling.
